89% of Ladakh's 1000 schools are tiny, remote and lack basic infrastructure. 17000 ft is on a mission to improve basic school infrastructure to motivate enrollment and create a holistic learning environment.
17000 ft has identified playground equipment as one of the major requirements of schools, and has already setup 15 playgrounds across Ladakh.
Your contribution will setup a playground with 5 items, consisting of a see-saw, swing set, a 3-in-1 combo of a small slide, a scrambler and a loop rung. The equipment is sourced from a manufacturer in Delhi, after which it is shipped to Leh. 17000 ft then transports the material to the remote school where it is installed with the help of the villagers and the school administration. The entire process could take 3 to 4 months, depending on the weather and road conditions. The school that receives the playground will be finalized in consultation with the Department of Education and proper permissions obtained.
The program donation amount covers cost of the material, transport and shipping to Leh and the remote school, installation and labour, as well as maintenance for a year.
