Social Impact Program by AXIS Bank in 2016

The AXIS Bank Leadership Development Team partners with 17000 ft Foundation to impact the lives of children living in its' remotest corners and creates a Social Impact Program that takes its Vice Presidents into these isolated regions to improve schools infrastructure and create learning programs for its children.

16 Vice Presidents arrive in Ladakh for an exhaustive 10 day visit and travel to four remote villages where they stay in simple homestays, interact with the villagers and spend their days working at the school. They work with the 17000 ft team to install the playgrounds that they fundraised for, and conduct various teaching sessions with the children on reading and the basics of banking and saving. The team interact with the local dignitaries and conduct exhaustive surveys in their villages to understand and document banking and financial practices adopted by the people of remote Ladakh.

Four schools, High School Wanla, Middle School Chulungkha, Middle School Diskit Girls and Centralized Residential School Tharuk each get a playground and a chance to interact and learn from senior bankers who came from various parts of the country to be a part of this project.

AXIS  Dil  Se - 2017 to 2019

AXIS Dil Se, a CSR initiative of AXIS Bank in collaboration with 17000 ft - aimed at transforming government schools and providing access to better resources for their children in rural villages of Leh and Kargil Districts of Ladakh and thus reach out to the remotest of communities of Ladakh.

This project will directly benefit 104 schools and village communities (52 from Leh District and 52 from Kargil District) over the next 3 years. 6000 school children can now look forward to better school infrastructure, improved opportunities of learning and dream of a future that was otherwise not even a remote possibility in these ignored hamlets.

Over the three years, each of these 104 schools will receive playgrounds, furniture, upgraded libraries, a computer lab, tablets with digital content for teacher development and an upgraded Anganwadi Center.

What makes this project exciting is that whole communities have come forward together to implement this. 10,000 villagers across 104 villages were out in full force over the course of the past month and a half in a joint effort to improve their schools. And 50 AXIS Bankers, 16 of whom were from the senior management team spent a week with our team to kick start this across these villages.

17000 ft is doing this for the first time and are humbled and thrilled at he same time. 104 playgrounds and libraries have already been setup and the training of teachers will commence this winter.
