JSA adopts Centralized Residential School, Satho

J. Sagar and Associates, a reputed law firm with offices across India decides to adopt a school in a very remote village1 called Satho, in Durbuk block of Ladakh. This school, situated at an altitude of over 14,442 ft is home to the children of nomads or Changpas in the region, who wander the mountains for months at time. In order to ensure that their children get quality education, they enrol them in this residential school and bring them home for the harsh winters.
In 2013, JSA decides to adopt this school for a period of three years in order to improve infrastructure and provide exposure to the children, who almost never get a chance to leave their villages.
2013 - JSA sets up a complete playground, provides furniture and carpets for the classrooms. Not just this, a team from JSA take 11 days off from their work to volunteer to complete the project.
2014 - JSA provides bunk beds for all the dorms in the school. These dorms, which were cramped and crowded now have ample place and sunlight in the rooms for the children. As before a team from JSA from different offices volunteer together as a group to complete the project
2015 - An exciting year for the school, JSA employees run to fundraise the amount required to bring 22 children from Satho to Delhi/Agra for an exposure tour. Later in the year, two teams from JSA volunteer at the school to conduct Reading Programs and art workshops for the children.
