Office colleagues pan India bond together for a cause!

A big group of 9 Voluntourists from Edelweiss pan India offices get ready for a stint of 10 days in Ladakh. That too at a very short notice! The goal shared evenly by all – to do something for the kids of Ladakh through us. The marathon runner Raj Vadgama – the marathon runner took up the challenge to run the La Ultra Marathon in Ladakh – a 333 Km run through 3 passes above 17000 ft and 70 hours - raised a whooping sum good enough for a Large playground to be installed at one of the schools that we support!

Edelweiss supported Raj Vadgama throughout. And they also ensured that the playground is installed right away by sending Volunteers from their office! Priti, Taniya, Vijayendra, Vincent, Amol, Ganesh, Divya, Mrugen and Amruth arrive in Leh. The playground was allotted to a very deserving school of Kargil district – Middle School Lankerchey Thang. Volunteering!

The group was greeted with very cold conditions on their arrival in Kargil. They managed to brave the cold and also work in the school – started off with digging the ground for the playground equipment with the help of our facilitators and local villagers. Their whole day’s work was washed away by rain in the evening! They did not give up and next day were back to clean up the mess and managed to set the whole scene right by the end of the day. A few of them painted the school and few others read out stories! The kids enjoyed each part of the program and the icing on the cake was the new shiny playground! As Ganesh puts it – after the inauguration of the playground, the kids rushed to play / ride as if they had been waiting for this for years! And the whole group was filled with contentment! They all were overwhelmed with the love and innocence of the kids and it was a lifetime experience for them.

A heartfelt thank you to all for bringing so much joy to the kids!
