The Gandhis spend their vacation setting up libraries!

Choosing to Volunteer together, rather than just spend their vacation as tourists, Jay and his father Harish contribute their time to the Foundation and  help setup libraries in 2 remote schools of Ladakh.

The duo are assigned two tiny schools, completely off the beaten track. Both schools, situated in the Khaltse block of Ladakh, at an altitude of 9000+ ft have just under 25 students and are very thrilled to receive their 17000ft Library.

After the mandatory 2 day rest and acclimatization, the duo receive a training at the 17000ft office after which, they, accompanied by a 17000 ft facilitator spend 2 to 3 days at each school setting up the library, training teachers as well as conducting activities with the children.

Their travel is not without their share of adventure, as they stay in simple homestays and even have to change schools as the schools they are originally assigned are unreachable due to the connecting bridge being washed away by heavy rains.

Thank you, Harish and Jai for contributing your time to help us build libraries in remote Ladakh! We know it must not have been easy!
