Know where we have  reached
An overseas voluntouring trip

The Lobos and Baruahs, two families on a long vacation to India, decide to use their time constructively and become voluntourists with 17000ft. Working closely with the Foundation for months prior to their program, the group actively fundraises and generates money for multiple projects at remote schools of Ladakh, finally coming to Ladakh to implement the projects themselves.

As is with all our Voluntourists, the group undergoes a mandatory training and orientation at the 17000ft office in Leh, after which they travel with a team of 17000ft facilitators, spending multiple days at each school. Staying at simple homestays for days, and working closely with the 17000ft team, it was hard to imagine that for a lot of them, this was their first trip into remote Ladakh.

The group sets up playgrounds, classroom furniture, paints school walls, conducts a reading program at all schools and even holds inter-school reading competitions to encourage children to actively use their library books. Thanks to these two beautful families, three schools in remote Ladakh can now boast of better infrastructure and a more holistic and happy place to learn.

We have a special thank you for the Lobos and Baruahs for their even bigger contribution to Ladakh. Their contribution has enabled the Foundation to finally complete and translate storybooks for children in their native language, Bhoti. Over 30,000+ copies of these books will be made available to children across 300+ schools of Ladakh on Children's Day, Nov 14th 2015.

Thank you, all, for you overwhelming support of our work!
