Yosha and Neeta volunteer in Primary School Pun Pun

Yosha and Neeta are the first Voluntourists of 17000 ft. A mother-daughter pair, the two decided to spend their vacation time volunteering with 17000ft and help setup libraries in remote village schools.

The school chosen for them is a tiny Primary School in a village called Pun-Pun, situated at an altitude of 12,818 ft. With just 14 students and 3 teachers, their mission is to setup a 17000 ft library in this school.

After the first two days acclimatizing at a good hotel in Leh where they undergo their mandatory training and orientation, they spend 4 days staying at a simple guest house in Tangtse, travelling daily to the school where they setup a library, conduct reading program activities and also help paint the school. Yosha and Neeta, both artists, also conduct an art workshop at the school.

Yosha and also spent time visiting the nearby famous Pangong Tso lake and beautiful monasteries.

The pilot library program is such a success, that the Foundation continues on to setup a 100 more libraries within the year. The headmistress of P/S Pun Pun is so inspired by the visit and the eagerness with which the children take to their shiny new books that she paints an entire wall with a story from one of their books in the library.

Thank you both! Your efforts have really served to inspire the students and teachers of this school.
